A spreadsheet
It started with test results tracked by hand: red and green boxes, and statistics that already hinted at which versions were good to go.
Validations and promotions
The first versions collected what CI/CD pipelines produced. Validations and promotions gave that data a meaning — and gave teams a shared word for quality.
Auto-versioning
Real delivery is a web of repositories and dependencies. Promotions and auto-versioning made versions travel through it only when the quality on both sides allows it.
Dashboards
With versions and quality tracked across the ecosystem, every team could build the page it needs and follow what matters to it.
Environments
Then deployments: which version runs where, what is allowed to go there, and the workflows and approvals on the way.
Agents
Now AI agents change code too. They read and write the same record, and earn the same levels as everyone else.
